Portugal remains one of the most spiritually needy countries in Europe. With only 7 independent Baptist churches in the entire nation, the need for Gospel-preaching churches has never been greater.
The Field
Portugal: A Spiritual Landscape
Portugal is a beautiful country on the Iberian Peninsula with a rich history and culture. However, spiritually, it remains in great darkness. The majority of the population identifies as Roman Catholic, though many are nominal in their faith.
About the size of Indiana with a population of 10.4 million, Portugal has only 7 independent Baptist churches in the entire country. The need for Gospel-preaching churches has never been greater.
Despite a growing openness to spiritual conversations, most Portuguese have never heard a clear presentation of the Gospel. Many communities have no access to a Bible-believing church, leaving millions without the opportunity to hear the truth of salvation through Jesus Christ alone.

Bible Baptist Church
In August of 2024, we received a call from a missionary who was on the field. He explained how the Lord was leading them off the field and asked if we would pray about taking the work they started.
While praying and seeking the Lord's direction, He led us to take and continue the work at Bible Baptist Church in Travanca. There is a faithful group of 14 people attending the church there.
We are excited that God would allow us to shepherd this flock and continue building on the foundation that has been laid. Our prayer is that the Lord will use us to see this church grow and multiply.
