What We Believe

Doctrinal Statement

We are in full agreement with the doctrinal statement of our sending church, Beth Haven Baptist Church. The following is a summary of our core doctrinal beliefs.

The Holy Scriptures

We believe the Holy Bible was written by men supernaturally inspired; that it has truth without any admixture of error for its matter; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the age, the only complete and final revelation of the will of God to man; the true center of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions shall be tried.

The True God

We believe there is one, and only one, living and true God, an infinite, intelligent Spirit, the Maker and supreme Ruler of Heaven and earth; inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible honor, confidence, and love. In the unity of the Godhead there are three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; equal in every divine perfection and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.

Salvation by Grace

We believe that salvation is wholly of grace; that the blessings of salvation are made free to all by the Gospel; that it is the immediate duty of all to accept them by a cordial, penitent, and obedient faith; and that nothing prevents the salvation of the greatest sinner on earth but his own inherent depravity and voluntary rejection of the Gospel, which rejection involves him in an aggravated condemnation.

The Local Church

We believe that a local church is a congregation of baptized believers associated by a covenant of faith and fellowship of the Gospel; that the only scriptural officers are pastors (also called bishops or elders) and deacons; that the church is autonomous, self-governing, and free from external authority or control.

Baptism and the Lord's Supper

We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Saviour. We believe that the Lord's Supper is a provision of bread and the fruit of the vine as symbols of Christ's broken body and shed blood, to be observed regularly in remembrance of Him.

The Security of the Believer

We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God's power and are thus secure in Christ forever. We believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God's Word, which clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh.

Biblical Separation

We believe in obedience to the Biblical commands to separate ourselves unto God from worldliness and ecclesiastical apostasy. We believe that Christians should live in such a way as not to bring reproach upon their Saviour and Lord, and that separation from all religious apostasy, all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices and associations is commanded by God.

The Second Coming of Christ

We believe in the personal, premillennial, and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ for His redeemed ones, and in His subsequent return to earth, with His saints, to establish His millennial kingdom.

Missions and the Great Commission

We believe that the command to give the Gospel to the world is clear and unmistakable and that this commission was given to the churches. It is the distinct mission of the church to make disciples of all nations, and we believe this is accomplished through the local church sending out missionaries who preach the Gospel, baptize believers, and establish local New Testament churches.
